Xochitl Galvez promised to respect the 2013 energy reform in a meeting with members of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra).

In the meeting held on Tuesday this week, the candidate for Mexico’s presidency for the opposition coalition “Force and Heart for Mexico” also criticized that the modifications to the Electrical Industry Law made in 2021 by the current administration impacted negatively investments already made in line with legislation.

“There were people who already had investments, who had practically complied with all the regulations to connect to the CFE [Federal Electricity Commission], and they [current administration] simply decided to switch dispatch to fossil energy, instead of clean energy, so many businessmen left in uncertainty,” he explained.

For this reason, Galvez Ruiz promised to respect legal framework derived from 2013-2014 energy reform that allowed private investments to enter energy sector.

“In my government Law will be respected. Law will not be the president’s way,” the former senator promised.

At Canacintra, chaired by Esperanza Ortega Azar, the candidate for the presidency presented her political platform and proposals for the next elections, as part of the activities carried out in the session of the organization’s National Director Board.
