Presidential candidate for the ruling coalition “Let’s Keep Making History”, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, promised that none of the refineries will be closed.
“No refinery is going to close,” she said at a campaign event held this Tuesday in the border city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
Accompanied by members of her team, including the former governor of the state, Eugenio Hernandez Flores, Sheinbaum Pardo commented on private electricity generating companies that operate under self-supply mode.
“We want clean energy without dirty businesses,” she said.
In her speech, she said that thanks to this legal figure, renewable energy projects were developed in the country, but “outside the law.”
In this regard, she recalled that Mexico’s president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador criticized that in the neoliberal era “many (businessmen) took advantage of the discourse of sustainability” to do business at the expense of public companies, mainly in reference to Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
She also referred the president urged private companies to sell their energy to the CFE.
In a press conference, the former head Mexico City Government reiterated her commitment to strengthening CFE and Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), and promoting an efficient energy use program and other programs to keep going to the country’s Energy Transition.
