Around 150 thousand barrels of fuel stopped paying taxes due to their illegal entering Mexico in the current administration, Xochitl Galvez Ruiz denounced at the Third Presidential Debate 2024 held this Sunday night.
The candidate for the opposition coalition “Force and Heart for Mexico” for the Mexico’s Presidency explained that in the United States an investigation is held against the businessman Sergio Carmona and the national leader of the National Regeneration Movement party (Morena), Mario Delgado, for having introduced about 150 thousand barrels of fuel into the country, which caused a fiscal evasion of about 700 million pesos.
“In 2019 Mario Delgado associated with Sergio Carmona, linked to organized crime. Business consisted of bringing gasoline from the United States to Mexico without paying taxes. For this purpose, they appointed Julio Carmona, brother of Sergio Carmona, administrator of the Reynosa Customs [Tamaulipas]. This business caused a loss of 700 million pesos in taxes to the SAT [Tax Administration System],” she explained in one of her participations.
She clarified that Sergio Carmona had been one of Morena’s financiers until his death in 2021, while his brother Julio fled to the United States to become a protected witness.
Related to this complaint, Galvez Ruiz had reiterated that she will build 2 million homes mainly for young people. She clarified that resources for this will come from actions to end the so-called “fiscal huachicol” in the illegal importation of fuels.
In this debate, the last one before the June 2 elections, the former senator also reiterated that, if she becomes President of the Republic, she will promote the installation of 2 million solar roofs through the country and spoke out in favor of promoting of clean energies.
